Ideal as a follow up to the beginners course. The improvers course concentrates on river trips and river running skills, and is for those who can paddle well on Grade 2 and want to paddle Grade 3 water. We look at basic white water skills such as breaking in and out, ferry-gliding, and balance turns and refining these skills on faster flowing waters, as well as introducing skills such as surfing on standing waves and small stoppers. We will also look at essential elements like grading, throw-line skills, reading the river and trip planning.
This course runs in the Peak District and Stockport area.
There is the option of boating one or two days to suit your needs.
The course is run by our Level 3 and Level 4 Kayak Coaches, who will cover a selection of skills from the BCU 1, 2, 3 and 4 Star qualifications, with optional assessments.
